Wisconsin state Assembly Rep. Tara Johnson in the WIZM studio Monday for La Crosse Talk discussing June dairy days in Wisconsin, supporting small farms, land conservation and how the difficulties in Republicans alone crafting the budget.
Started the show talking about road construction a bit before talking about farming, land conservation and some farm provisions that got stripped by Republicans in the budget.
We continued with budget talks, as Johnson described that when the Joint Finance Committee removes over 600 items from the budget — like legalizing recreational marijuana — they cannot go back in later. Johnson also noted that Republicans are realizing its harder to pass a budget with new maps and smaller majorities. But, this conversation took place Monday and, since then, the talks between Republicans and Gov. Tony Evers have fallen off as of Thursday.
