Did you know…that the first nine chapters of Proverbs are actually 10 speeches written in the style of an allegory? We have the Royal King, Lady Wisdom, the Wicked Man, and Lady Folly. And while this series will not be a study of Proverbs, we will lean heavily into this book as we talk about Biblical wisdom. Tonight the are a few questions we want you to consider, beginning with: Which voice will you choose? Of all the voices competing for your attention, all the influences that are clamoring for your ears…who will you listen to the most? Lady Wisdom still calls to us! Will you HEAR her, will you FOLLOW her, and will you BECOME her? So many people think of Proverbs as this random collection of pithy sayings. Do we find an abundance of short, simple, wise sayings in Proverbs? Of course! But Proverbs offers us so much more AND this book is not the only place in the Bible with an emphasis on wisdom.
