KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • There was a ruler of the land, he had lots and lots of wisdom and people came from near and far to listen to him. Sadly, one day, this reputable, honoured, respected king – the ruler of his lands – died. But he had an insight and he used it to create 12 volumes of wisdom which would be presented to his son on his 18th The son curiously, almost with frustration, looked upon the volumes and said: “I don’t have time for this” and instructed his advisors to reduce the volumes to 6.
  • The son wasn’t the king his father was, but he ruler his land until he passed and he too left his son the 6 volumes. As a teenager, the son became more and more involved in normal teenager behaviour rather than that of a king and he said to his advisors: “I don’t have time for this, make them into 3 volumes”. The advisors were in fear, how do you condense wisdom?
  • Eventually the king was given the three volumes and he was astonished at what he learned and had come to understand in these three volumes. He thought of his father and grandfather and how hey too could have been party to the three volumes and could have saved time. Again, this king aged and passed and gave the three volumes to his son who was even more obnoxious with his teenage antics and lacking responsibility. He commanded his advisors condense the three volumes into one.
  • The continued until the advisors were told to condense the universal wisdom into a single word. The word that the advisors came up with was “attitude”.

BEST MOMENTS

‘When I was growing up we had really big encyclopaedias from Reader’s Digest, really beautiful books. I can imagine all the information in those being reduced in the way the volumes were reduced in the story.’
‘This really was fascinating for me, this changed so much for me and I really hope you guys are on the edge of your seats.’
‘How you do anything is how you do everything. What is your attitude towards what you are doing in life? How do you intend to live? What is your attitude toward that intention? Are you happy in life? If not, start to practice gratitude, it is an attitude.’
‘I’ve been trying to transfer some of the things that I learned from my channel swim into other areas of my life, and one of the big things was discipline. When I was too tired, I swam, when I didn’t want to get into that ice bath, I did. Why? Because I had the attitude of being a winner, not being defeated, to show people that we are all capable of much greater than we believe, to raise awareness about plastic pollution in our oceans.’

ABOUT THE HOST

Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.

Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.

Why?

Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!

How?

Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
