You May Be Right!
Wise People ALWAYS Consider They Could Be Wrong - Matthew Kelly

Video Transcript:
“I have a friend back in Australia whose favorite line in a debate is, “You may be right!” He usually dispenses this line when the discussion has descended to a place where nobody is listening to anybody anymore. “You may be right!” and that’s the end of the conversation. If you see this in action often enough it becomes quite amusing.
But the wisest people I know have taught me something infinitely more valuable. Always consider the possibility that you might be wrong. Most people rarely consider the possibility. We believe ourselves, we trust our judgement, even though we have plenty of evidence that we have been wrong many, many times before.
You might be wrong. Wisdom considers this possibility.
The more you consider the possibility that you may be wrong, the more breadth and depth your truth acquires.
If your truth is so fragile that it can’t stand up to rigorous debate and exploration, then either it isn’t truth at all, or you haven’t yet entwined yourself with it intimately.
Wise people consider the possibility that they may be wrong.”
