On April 18, 1942, the daring Doolittle Raid changed WWII history. Led by aviation pioneer Lt. Col. James Harold Doolittle, 16 B-25 bombers struck Japan before vanishing into China's skies, with Crews 3 and 5 parachuting over Quzhou City, east China's Zhejiang Province. Defying Japanese occupation forces, local people risked their lives to rescue and shelter the stranded American pilots. Today, the Doolittle Raid Memorial Hall in the city stands as a living testament to that wartime friendship and to the belief that unity in the face of aggression can inspire hope across oceans and generations.
