Good ..... but not great!
This book isn't your ordinary handsome rogue meets lady blah blah, they have a few problems then live happily ever after. No, this has a good plot that will keep you guessing right til the end. Good narrator too.
I've heard better Amanda Quick (Jayne Ann Krentz) books but I like her work so will continue to download anything available.
Twist and turns!
This was my first time reading a book by Amanda Quick and was very enjoyable. Romance, murder and intrigue woven together into an interesting plot beautifully read by the spectacular Barbara Rosenblat who has an amazing voice. Her range of accents and tones has to be listened to to be believed. She reads the male voices so wonderfully that if I didn't know better I'd swear I was actually listening to a male reader and, in this book, her cockney 'ladies maid' pretending to be French had me in giggles. Highly recommended!
I liked the leading couple
This book was not typical in the sense that the hero & heroine were more mature. I liked that! Particularly the sarcastic humor related to being the doddering ages of 39 and 29 respectively. Additionally, the hero had some lovable characteristics (any man who talks to his dog is OK with me :-) and the heroine was not a simpering miss. As always Quick infuses humor which I enjoy. And the intrigue kept me going. I thought I guessed the ending a few times but the twists and turns threw me off enough to make me keep listening. It was worth my credit.
Marvelous
I'd forgotten how witty Amanda Quick (Jayne Krentz) was in her earlier works. I thoroughly enjoyed this romp through regency England and may revisit more of her 1990's books.
Charming and entertaing
Briefly - lLight , entertaining story of an older style. The narrator was a pleasure to listen to. I recommend it for easy listening.
