Psychologists tell us that expectations are a happiness- killer. We would like to believe that life is fair, that everyone will like us or agree with us, or that having more stuff will make us feel good. Unfortunately, none of that is true. Bummer!
In our spiritual lives, though, expectation is a joy- creator. It never disappoints! God has promised to be with us all the time. And He is faithful. Alleluia!
Yes, we live in anticipation of Jesus’ return on the
last day, but we also know just as fully that He is with us, renewing us with His Spirit each moment of our lives as we seek holiness and serve others.
Thanks be to God for the resulting peace and vitality we experience, a feeling beyond normal human reckoning.
