For Wittgenstein, the role of philosophy is to clarify what is already in plain view by examining the everyday use of language rather than seeking metaphysical explanations. Rather than explaining, philosophy should describe, helping us recognise how our rules and assumptions entangle understanding. Our greatest challenge lies in seeing what is plainly visible yet obscured by familiarity. The goal is to gain perspective, showing the fly the way out of the bottle.
