Woke is a political term that originated in the United States, and it refers to a perceived awareness of issues that concern social justice. Being woke has transitioned in America from being socially aware to being socially offended. Our culture, rather than focusing on becoming less offended, has ineffectively and at times ridiculously, only focused on silencing the offensive.
