Woman Crush Wednesday #03: Spartan Hero Margit Jensen-Cook and Why Your Success Isn't Measured by Scale

Hello sisters and welcome back to the Sexyfit Podcast!

 

We are continuing our #WCW series, where we are featuring Sexyfit’s most transformational sisters and sharing the raw realities of their journey.

Let me introduce you to Margit, our 2nd year Sexyfit sister who is making an amazing progress. She lost nearly 30 pounds and she lost inches as you can witness on her photos, but she gained lots of other things.

Why did you start this journey?

At the time I was a stay-at-home mom and working part-time from home. I’ve done gym before and tried Weigthwatchers, but somehow it never clicked for me. I even trained myself for marathon and accomplished that, but when it was over I didn’t know what to do with my energy. It’s hard to be your own coach.

Then I found Zlata on Facebook, through my Alaskan friends, and for some reason what she stood for spoke to me. It all made sense, the journey, the process, the focus on lifestyle, the desire for change. You are either in or out. I really felt like I needed to be in. I didn’t want my son to get the idea that we sat on the couch all day. My body desperately needed to move and I needed a coach.

What obstacles have you overcome on this journey?

This is my second run with Sexyfit. I started the program 3 years ago and was in love with it, but then I had some emotional things going on in my life that pulled me off the track. At one point Zlata reached out to me, asked how I was doing and invited me to start again. And I jumped onboard again though I didn’t feel I was ready. But I thought I couldn’t quit anymore. This was my life, and I needed to kick in the high gear. I recommitted myself and that was the big moment of accomplishment.

Since then I’ve committed to the workouts which are fantastic, I've started the LevelUp Program and I’m training for the Spartan Race now. I’m super excited and scared, but the tickets are paid for, so no backing out. After the race I’m going to be intolerable for months, bragging to everyone about what I’ve accomplished. I’m scared but I’m doing it anyway.  

What would you tell to your old self?

Don’t beat yourself up. If today is the day you decide, then today you’re making the change. If it’s tomorrow, then tomorrow you will make the change. But if you know in your heart that the change needs to happen, then you have to put your energy into that and design a plan. Ride those emotions, jump on board and go after that.

What are some of the fitness transformation gems you want to share with listeners?

Work smarter, not harder. Why spending 1.5 hours in the gym when you can be in and out in 30 minute, and accomplish exactly what you need to get your body moving and face the challenges?

Sexyfit program is so effective because we have a laid out plan, which changes every month and week, so there is no opportunity for boredom. Changing it up is what I love about Sexyfit. Look at the plan and work smarter, not harder.

 

By the time we published this interview, Margit successfully completed her Spartan Race and now she has every right to brag about it for months!
