In tribute of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies being released in the USA this coming weekend, this episode is too long, over-bloated, and has too many plots. However, it’s full of laughs and will be well worth your time. All 100 minutes of your time. We overshot our goal by a hour. Oops. :)

I was delighted to have my friend Gabe Hughes, the writer and voice of the YouTube channel “When We Understand The Text” (WWUTT), to be on the show this week. We play a fun Bible trivia game in which (SPOILERS!)….I school him. “Calvinist Batman & Friends: Where We *Really* Understand The Text.”

Afterwards, we listen to a few voicemails. A couple of them are from close friends of mine and are humorous. The final voicemail though asks us whether the Bible permits a woman to preach and be in leadership at church. We first play a video from WWUTT (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOQBqM-zcyI) and then discuss the doctrine of complementarianism when it comes to church leadership.

We then talk about Biblical context and our most hated verses that are taken out of context. We also talk about the problem with Biblical context in regards to Christian media and movies. We discuss the new (Netflix original) “VeggieTales in the House” show and the new film “Exodus: Gods & Kings.” I discuss my dream movie on the life of David, as long as T.D. Jakes isn’t used as a theological reference.
