Why is it that Australian women are retiring with superannuation balances 47% lower than men?

It’s a staggering fact… And there are real and severe consequences of this gender inequality in personal savings. For example we’re now seeing women over the age of 55 becoming the fastest growing demographic of homeless people in Australia.

This week, we’re bringing you two moments from a recent, special event addressing this issue. The event was partnership between the FSC, the Self Managed Super Fund Association and the Commonwealth Bank. It was called the Women, Super and Wealth Summit, and was held in Sydney in late April.

You’ll hear first from CEO of the Financial Services Council, Sally Loane, and then from the outgoing CEO of the SMSF Association, Andrea Slattery.
