Women's Spaces Radio Show of 11/2/2020 with host Elaine B Holtz and guest Astrid Harper on her just published memoir "From Hitler to Trump - an Immigrant's Story"-  Show ID: WSA201102.  Astrid was born to German parents during Kristallnacht of November 9 to 10, 1938, when pogroms were executed by SA paramilitary and civilians that burned over 200 synagogues and many Jewish stores and houses, resulting in over 30,000 Jewish men to be deported to concentration camps. She was 7 years old when the Russians occupied her town when the war ended, but the post war period was a time of terror for little Astrid. She recounts this war and post war period in Germany, and her immigration to the USA in 1960 to become a naturalized citizen in 1967. She hopes this book will be a warning to the lure of dictators and a testimony to the talents and experiences an immigrant brings to our country.
