Women's stroke symptoms often misdiagnosed

Strokes kill more than twice as many Australian women per year than breast cancer, with new figures revealing a critical gap in diagnosis. Women are 25 per cent less likely than men to have their stroke symptoms recognised quickly. Atypical stroke symptoms in women, including nausea, confusion and headaches, are often misdiagnosed, leading experts to call for these warning signs to be taken more seriously.
