In this week’s episode, Kira is joined at the table with Tamica to discuss grieving the loss of a child. Tamica shares a bit about her childhood and how those life events impacted her. She tells about her abuse as a teenage mother, the relationship with her mother, and the relationship with her children.
Also during the conversation, Tamica recalls the moments before and after her six-year old son was hit and killed by a car when crossing a busy highway in Atlanta. Kira, Tamica's aunt, recants her memory of the events and the impact it had on her, and the family. Throughout the conversation share the different methods Tamica has used to cope with the grief and how she manages her emotions. She shares what good and bad days look like, what has been most difficult, and what has been surprisingly easy.
Tamica shares a little about her oldest son who is currently service a 20 years prison sentence and if she feel as though she loss her sons. Lastly, the pair discuss the challenges of raising black sons, what makes them proud to be mothers, and give advice to mother raising sons in less than ideal situations.
