Words Worth Silver
“The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.” — Psalm 12:6.
The words of the Lord are pure—pure like silver refined seven times in the fire. Can you picture that? A precious metal being heated until every impurity is gone. That’s how God’s words are: true, clean, trustworthy—completely different from the words the world throws around so carelessly.
We live in a time when people talk a lot but say very little. False compliments, empty promises, sweet talk to hide wrong intentions. Psalm 12 speaks exactly about that—a generation where everyone lies to one another, and words have become cheap. Flattering lips, fake hearts… sounds familiar?
Now think about it: how often have our own words been like that too? How many times have we said what others wanted to hear just to avoid conflict? How many times have we promised something to God and failed to keep it? How many times have we used our words to impress instead of to build up?
Our words reveal who we really are—they expose what’s inside the heart. That’s why God calls us to speak as He speaks—with purity, with truth, with purpose. He wants our words to be like refined silver—precious, honest, full of life.
Maybe you’ve realized that lies, sarcasm, or empty talk have taken over your mouth. Maybe your words have hurt someone. But the good news is this: God can refine your speech just like silver in the fire. He can ignite the flame of the Holy Spirit within you so that everything impure is burned away and only what’s true remains.
Today, the Lord invites you to let Him purify your voice—not just what comes out of your lips, but what lives in your heart. Say to Him now:
“Lord, make me someone who speaks like You. Purify my words, cleanse my heart,
and let only truth and grace flow from my mouth.”
Talk to Him. Because when His words begin to live in you, your speech no longer wounds—it begins to heal.
