WORK BEGINS ON TALLEST RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN DENMARK
Ground engineering work has begun in Aarhus, Denmark, for Lighthouse 2.0, a 143-m-tall tower that, when complete, will be the country's tallest residential building, New Civil Engineer reports. The foundation work, being performed by Aarsleff Ground Engineering, will involve the installation of 28 drilled piles, each with a diameter of 2 m and a total maximum length of 70 m. Because of the waterfront area's soil composition and typical wind conditions, the drilled pile foundations are designed to place structural loads on the deeper subsoil, which will prevent long-term settling of the building. Lighthouse is among several developments along the Aarhus harbor. It is scheduled for completion in 2022.
