Everyone enjoys a good vacation. It’s nice to get away sometimes. But are you living a life where all you can think about is your next vacation, or weekend, or day off? God created us to work and then take a Sabbath - a day of rest - but many people are constantly thinking about their next extended rest.
What if you lived a life of such powerful, dynamic ministry, that after enjoying a vacation, you can’t wait to get back to work? What if you find joy in your job beyond what you can imagine right now? We aren’t meant to enjoy only Saturdays and Sundays, or two weeks off every summer. God made you for more than that. He wants you to make the most of every day, right where you are, where He has planted you. “Rejoice in the Lord always.” Notice “in the Lord,” not in the circumstances.
In Colossians 3:23, the Bible says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” So this week, if you are at work, or school, or picking up around the house—do the tasks before you as to the Lord. Look for opportunities to minister right where you are, right where God has you. Thank God for the privilege of working hard for His glory. Your joyful attitude at work and at play will help you reach your world more effectively also.
