Luke 10:17-37

The seventy-two disciples are back from their preaching mission and now Jesus assures these missionaries that while they experienced a lot of awesome moments, and while some received and some rejected the gospel, the Father was sovereignly at work in and through it all. There is power to gospel proclamation and as they went they also needed to know their gospel preaching was beating back Satan’s dark kingdom amplifying his defeat. This debrief of sorts from Jesus gave all sorts of help to the seventy-two disciples and subsequently Jesus’ words help us as we go about the same task of gospel proclamation as them. Main Idea—Working for the Savior is a joyful blessing that will expose hearts to gospel need.
