Since the Elevate Your 8 Philosophy covers your workday, then I think it’s time we started talking about the main tool you need to get the job that aligns with your values and talents.

The Resume.

Many people know how to create one, but very few people actually know how to format a resume so it elevates your skills, talents, and career highlights.

I’ve been in the workforce for more than 30 years; and since switching to the resume format that I’m going to teach you in this series, I have NEVER had a failed job search.  And I’ve ALWAYS been invited to interview.  

The key to a solid, functional resume is completely understanding where you’ve been and how to represent what you can do.  Potential employers want to know how you can contribute to their organization - they DON’T want to look at a laundry list of your job titles.

For this final lesson, we are discussing Career Highlights and Action Verbs. Career Highlights are those "feathers in your cap" that help your resume stand out.  And then action verbs bring more credibility to your resume by speaking to exactly what you did in a particular program, task, or responsibility.  My favorite online reference is at The Muse.
