World Adoption Day, marked on 9 November each year since 2014, was established by friends in Los Angeles to celebrate families, raise awareness of adoption, and support families through the adoption journey. For Kim and Wayne Allen, co-founders of Tiny Owls Baby Home, the adoption process struck a deeply personal chord. Kim sits down with Leigh-Anne Williams about why the started their organisation, how the adoption process works, some of the myths and misconceptions around adoption in South Africa as well as advice to South Africans who want to adopt.
