World Climbing Series 2026 Ranking Overview

Introduction

The 2026 World Climbing Series marks a new era in international competition climbing. Formerly known as the IFSC Climbing World Cup, the series was rebranded after the International Federation of Sport Climbing became World Climbing in late 2025. The 2026 season features 13 venues across Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, with athletes competing in Boulder, Lead, and Speed disciplines.

As the season progresses, rankings are determined by points earned at each event. Climbers receive ranking points based on their finishing positions, and the athletes with the highest cumulative totals will claim the overall World Climbing Series titles.

Early Men's Ranking Contenders

Japanese star Sorato Anraku has started the season strongly. He captured victory in the opening Boulder event in Keqiao, reinforcing his status as one of the sport's brightest talents. His consistency across multiple disciplines makes him a leading candidate for the overall ranking.

South Korea's Lee Dohyun has also impressed, reaching the podium in both Boulder and Lead competitions during the opening rounds. Such versatility is crucial in accumulating ranking points throughout the season.

Another athlete to watch is Neo Suzuki, who secured an important Lead victory in Wujiang and immediately entered the conversation for the discipline title.

Women's Ranking Leaders

The women's field remains highly competitive. French climber Zélia Avezou earned a major Boulder victory in Keqiao, while Slovenia's Janja Garnbret returned to international competition with multiple podium finishes. Garnbret remains one of the strongest contenders for the overall ranking thanks to her elite performances in both Boulder and Lead.

American climber Annie Sanders also delivered a breakthrough performance by winning the Lead event in Wujiang, positioning herself among the season's top challengers.

Speed Climbing Rankings

In Speed climbing, China's Zhao Yicheng has emerged as a rising star. His victory in Wujiang attracted significant attention, while the women's Speed competition continues to feature strong performances from Aleksandra Kałucka and other elite specialists.

Key Events Still to Come

Several important stops remain on the 2026 calendar, including Prague, Innsbruck, Chamonix Socolive, Salt Lake City, and the season finale in Santiago. These events will play a decisive role in determining the final rankings.
