March 22-28, 2018 is World Doula Week, the week where we celebrate doulas worldwide.
Hey, Mama Loves! It’s World Doula Week. We are celebrating the people that teach mothers how to advocate for themselves during the birthing process. Doulas. This week on the podcast, I interviewed Vanessa Hanible and Caitlin Kelley (Birthing Beautifully Doula Services) of Washington DC and Ohio, respectively. I ask these doulas all the questions a mother searching for a doula may want answers to. Questions like what is a doula, what kinds of service do doulas typically provide and how do they handle discrimination in the birthing industry are all tackled in this two-part podcast.
Most doulas provide pre-natal care. Some only handle post-partum care for new moms such as light cooking and cleaning, helping with older children, and making sure the mom gets plenty of rest. Doulas work with mothers to ensure mothers have the best and healthiest birth experience.
I’m sure you’ll find this informative whether or not you are searching for a doula for your next birth. Take a listen. Then afterward, leave a comment and a five-star rating on iTunes.
