Just the facts
I was expecting something more thought provoking and maybe highlights of lessons learned or implications for the future, but really what this is is a data packed review of historical events. I liked it, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as I hoped. The narrator is pretty weak in my opinion. She sounds like one of those automated voices on the phone. She seems to accent the wrong words making her sound like he's not paying attention to what she's reading.
Nice Summary of World History
First I'd like to commend Adam Brown for even attempting to write a book on the history of the world. Several famous authors such as Charles Dickens and HG Wells have attempted to write history, but not without criticism. Wells, who wrote Outline of World History, was severely criticized for his grasp of ancient Greek. Brown, however, may be faulted more for what he left out than what he wrote. I would like to have heard more about ancient mid-east and also about Central and South American history, but then again to write what he did in less than 200 pages makes Brown one of history's greatest economisers of words! Nice work!
Tedious and dry retelling of history
Boring history book. Not engaging at all. My wife is convinced that the narrator is a machine.
