This week, Sophie tells us a story with a bit more of historical flavour than usual and tell us of the bravery of the French Resistance during the Nazi occupation of France and the actions of one woman in particular, Simone Segouin.
When Simone Segouin was 14 years old, the Nazi forces had invaded her homeland of France. Fast forward four years, and we her a key player in the French Resistance.
Working under the nom-de-guerre Nicole Minet, she was responsible for capturing Nazi troops, sabotaging German plans, and fighting fascism in her home country.
However, had it not been for an article in the September 1944 edition of LIFE magazine, and photography of Robert Capa, arguably none of her contributions to the Allied war effort would’ve been remembered.
