The Riff Lounge w/ Nick Tello

World's Youngest Mariachi Singer | Ep. 25

Listen Later

Mateo Adalberto Lopez is the Guinness World Record holder for becoming the world’s youngest mariachi singer at just 4 years old. Mateo is not your ordinary performer. He plays 10 instruments, represents both the United States and Mexico, and has already shared his voice on some of the biggest stages in the world.

Nick Tello sits down with Mateo Lopez, and his father, Albert Lopez. They talk about his journey from singing on a chair at a quinceañera to going viral on TikTok, appearing on México Tiene Talento, Little Big Shots, and The Kelly Clarkson Show, and performing national anthems at major events for the The Savannah Bananas, XFL on FOX, F1, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, San Francisco 49ers, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Red Sox, and more. Mateo and Albert also open up about the family roots behind his music, the influence of Mateo’s grandfather and sister, and what it has been like to grow up with a gift that has taken him from Mariachi Bar to packed stadiums, including a recent performance at Kyle Field in front of 102,000 people. This conversation goes beyond the performances. Nick, Mateo, and Albert get into the sacrifices, rules, and discipline behind Mateo’s career.
