Bible Text: Romans 12:1-2 | Preacher: Lieutenant Rob Westwood-Payne | Series: We Believe | In this sermon about Romans 12 1-2, we recall that worship is giving ourselves back to God in response to his love, goodness and greatness. It’ not all about turning up to meetings on a Sunday, although that is part of it. Are we guilty of reducing it to that sometimes?
Unthinking Worship
Paul uses the metaphor of sacrifice deliberately. In the ancient world, religion was sacrifice. But the system was open to abuse: people offered sacrifices without considering their attitude or sincerity.
True Worship
Our true worship can be nothing else than giving all of ourselves to God as a living sacrifice. As we understand God’s grace in our lives, our only reasonable response is to give ourselves to him as a sacrifice.
