It's got kids, dogs, and it's my shortest episode yet! What more can I say?
I’ve learned so much from parenting my children. Sometimes, the same skills I use to help them can be applied to managing myself, or in interactions with other adults. At other times, it’s more explicit: one of my kids says something that surprises me and gives me an entirely new perspective.
I’m going to be sharing more of these life lessons from parenting here as standalone episodes on the podcast. And I'm starting this week with a conversation about dogs with my 9 year old son. You might not expect to find wisdom there. But his belief that being unique is more valuable than conforming to an “ideal’ standard was thought-provoking. It led me to reconsider why I (and we as a society) try so hard not to seem different.
What if we truly believed that being different and unique was more valuable than being "normal" and fitting in with the group?
