“Weathered wounds” are composed of retroactive pains from childhood that combine with past and present relationship hurts. This results in a profound victim complex that can lead one to lean into the flight response as a way to avoid accountability and constructive criticisms perceived as slights. Questions: Does your pain, or unhealed wounds take priority over those of your significant other? “Is your pain in a silent competition with your significant other?” Does the perfect relationship victim exist? How does the perception of the “perfect victim” create relationship dissolution victors? What are “weathered wounds” and how do they affect the likelihood of relationship dissolution and/or reconciliation? Is it possible for the ego to convince you that your pain is more important than the relationship itself? How do we reconcile perception with reality when it comes to healing our pain and claiming our “victory” to be the dissolution of a relationship? In what way does the inability to digest and metabolize criticisms affect our overall growth and hope for enlightenment?
