Wrestle Update

Just as the legendary tradition of March Madness hits the hoops scene, Wrestle Update is throwing their hat in the fold. We have a 64 man tournament to determine the true champion of North American wrestling, the true MVP right now. So buckle up and follow along as we end up both having to unanimously agree and how do we do that? Our tiebreakers come from Nello calling his tried and true wrestle friends live on air, including his own brother and regular WU mentioner Wendy, while Dylan turns to the only ones he can trust: All of South Korea. It is an unhinged experiment started by a bracket that was in fact completely randomized by Nello. No selection committee here! Hopefully you can enjoy or at least follow along with the chaos!

Check us out on social, X/Twitter and BlueSky and let us know who you think will win both Major March Madnesses!

There were a lot of issues to say the least, somehow always coming down to Santino having another segment. Booking blunders, bad wrestling, celebrities nobody knows or has heard of in an empty section, random debuts, S.U.A.T!? Broom closets and bad production values and of course time running out before they could even pull of their main event angle, TNA is back on cable and in full peak TNA fashion like the good old Russo days. Dylan unbelievably got Nello to watch it and we were all left flabbergasted. It was even worse than Cagematch warned us, and we go through the entire world of TNA and try to come up with a future where there's any possible hope for Total Nonstop Action.

This is it, we have a lot to get to with looking back at 2025 in wrestling in America. Whether it was AEW, WWE, or the independents. The scene gave us a lot of good...and a lot of bad. We go over all of them and our picks for not just the Awards categories but also the "worst of" the year burying a lot of the worst stuff under the sun that pro wrestling gave us. Overall it was another year down and it's got us looking ahead and hoping 2026 is even better. Or just better at all, anything works.

The world might not be ending, but Dylan's sanity might be. MJF is the AEW World Champion once more. After a show ripe with booking blunders and a crowd that reacted accordingly to all but seemingly the Mixed Nuts match, we go through it all. From another correct prediction from May with Hyan getting signed, all the way to the puzzling main event build that led us to Hangman Page heading into a feud with Hook of all people. There are mixed opinions on it to say the least at least on this show. We talk about Stat as well as the booking of the Death Riders going forward after Jon Moxley's surprising C2 win. It was a show, with a match of the year candidate and a lot of controversial outcomes. But it gives a lot to talk about and that's something we appreciate!

Hopefully you do too and will talk to us on social media. Follow us on Twitter & Hangman's favorite site:

Our first time ever on Wrestle Update, we drop an interview with the Owner and CEO of the newest Deathmatch outfit that Nello attended their first ever show live and in person. We talk about a variety of topics in this comprehensive interview:

The beginnings of James' wrestling and what attracted him to Deathmatch

The logistical components of starting a new company in 2025 and of the first show. From the Financials, weapons to get, airing on YT and why purposely janky was the way to go on the title and trophy

Getting Abdullah Kobayashi for the first ever show and fub stories of what he was like in person

The state of the scene and where AZ could fit in with the strong established scenes of Texas and California

Potential for international talent ahead and our love of the BJW Gen 2 Deathmatch Title

Who the best Deathmatch wrestler of all time in America and the world is

Why James thinks tournaments are the best format for a Deathmatch show and why it was meaningful for the show to be a tournament

If you'd like to check out the show itself which features an 8 person DM tournament featuring Abdullah Kobayashi, Chuck Stein, HARDCORE, JD Horror, MASADA, Michael Kruger, Neil Diamond Cutter & Sage Sin check out AZ DM's first show Death in the Desert FREE on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNkhCVEP8MC6Y1eh9OsepmPA306CQJkJC

Wrestle Update returns after a harrowing October and November, just in time for the title change that sent a Shockwave through the fanbase, as well as give a full preview of one of our historically favorite times of the year with the Continental Classic set to start, we end the show on a positive note giving a full preview and put our picks down for who makes the semis, who wins, and who gets the MVP. In addition to a rant about Hangman's title reign just before that. So you get the best of both worlds in the latest Wrestle Update!

We discuss a bit of the news about WWE's WrestleMania heading to Saudi Arabia and what that could mean for The Collective and WrestleMania weekend shows potentially heading to Saudi as well in this fascinating and strange timeline we're in. We quickly get things to All Out itself, with perhaps more praise from Dylan on AEW booking and MJF period than ever before after this show, in addition to our thoughts on the matches themselves, and even a little bit about NHL '94 at the start. Going through the show to the main event we talk about the surprise title change (except to Dylan apparently) and Nello's newfound hype for Jurassic Express coming back. Someone got set on fire, and two different matches bordered on Match of the Year, it was unquestionably a fun night that was had by most.

A complete preview of all 13 matches listed for All Out as well as the pre-show, plus a recap and thoughts on the storylines that got us here. We discuss the potential for the main event (thankfully confirmed not to be the CNC tag match since recording) and the build to the various matches on this card, pick the winners and discuss our hopes for this year's All Out.

We have talked about the past with reviewing ROH's first ever show. We have talked about the present talking about Death Before Dishonor 2025. Now. Now we take a look towards ROH's future. Or more accurately, a potential future. Dylan and Nello have their own ideas on how to break ROH off and how to gain traction and interest for the show as a whole coming off of the YouTube free show. We break it down in ways that we feel can realistically happen or at least be asked for from ROH's current owned Tony Khan. We lay out our vision for a new ROH and take a few key paths with it.

The rosters. Who would we keep, who would go, who would be mixed in from AEW, who would we call and try to bring in?

What is our idea for ROH itself that shapes the rosters we have in mind? (Both philosophies are quite different)

What do we have in mind to rebrand and remarket the ROH Weekly TV show? (These are WAY different!)

How would we build the company into a viable unit all on it's own going forward and what are some ideas for some storylines we might like to see?

Everything is covered in this episode, it's our first ever episode featuring a full reconstruction and a fitting end to our ROH themed month looking towards the future...of honor.

We have a full discussion on the Death Before Dishonor show that ended up unexpectedly free on YouTube with two showstopping matches to close out the show. We also talk about Sammy Guevara working double duty (AGAIN!?) and the relevance of the Pure title rules and if there's enough reason to make a second one. Finally we talk about the brand, where it's at, and where things are going for the company right now on a ROH centered Wrestle Update.
