Step back into 1990 with the Wrestle WreMarks as Chris and Pat watch WWF’s The Main Event IV for the very first time!

The Ultimate Warrior puts the WWF Championship on the line against the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, but you already know DiBiase never shows up without a plan—or without Virgil standing nearby! The card also features Mr. Perfect battling the Big Boss Man, Rick “The Model” Martel renewing his rivalry with Tito Santana, and Sgt. Slaughter taking on Nikolai Volkoff.

But what makes this show even more fascinating is the match viewers never got to see.

During the taping, The Rockers defeated The Hart Foundation in a two-out-of-three falls match to win the WWF Tag Team Championships. However, the title change was never officially recognized. Two of the ring ropes broke early in the match, creating a strange-looking contest—especially for a tag team match where the ropes play such an important role.

The damaged turnbuckle became the storyline explanation for returning the championships to the Hart Foundation, but the real reason was that Vince McMahon reportedly decided the match was too visually awkward to air. The Rockers’ victory was erased from WWF history, the Harts remained the recognized champions, and Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty would eventually split without ever officially holding the titles together.
