The Arkansas-born Ash, who died on August 29 at the age of 76, found success not only as a wrestler but also as a bootmaker, whose clients included Hulk Hogan, Kerry Von Erich (who received a prosthetic boot following a motorcycle accident), even football stars Ed "Too Tall" Jones and William "Refrigerator" Perry.
