Garrett H. Jones is an American entrepreneur who has lived in Chengdu for over 12 years. He co-founded Extravagant Yak Tibet Travel Company in 2012 and a marketing and translation company, Perfect English Academic and Business Solutions, in 2019. His wife and four kids think Chengdu is the coolest place to live on the planet.
In this episode, Garret talks about writing as an act of focus and staying in conversation with self. Staying in dialogue is what makes the writing process a living and breathing thing. Garrett shares his earliest memories with writing as well as his journey of growth in China over that past 15years. He touches on the creative energy in Chengdu that has attracted great writers such as Hemingway and others. Chengdu's long love affair with words is something he can feel and appreciate.
On good writing, Garrett says, "The best kind of writing is when you can see what's written." Let your words paint a picture to engage the reader's imagination.
