Gerry Kelly was one of four young Derry men wrongfully charged with the murder of a British Soldier in 1979. 

These men, known as the ‘Derry Four’ fled to the Republic of Ireland and were on the run for 20 years, returning to Northern Ireland in 1998  for their acquittal.
