WRSU Crew Interview: 3x Olympic Gold Medalist and Rutgers professor Nancy Hogshead-Makar

Professor Nancy Hogshead-Makar, is a 1980 and 1984 Olympian. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, she won three gold medals and one silver medal, becoming the most decorated swimmer at the Games. She competed in the first event of the Games, the women's 100m freestyle, where she won in a tie-finish, with American teammate Carrie Steinseifer. They were both awarded gold medals. She also won golds in the 4x100m freestyle and the 4x100m medley teams, and a silver medal in the women's 200m individual medley. Nancy Hogshead-Makar is a civil rights lawyer, and CEO of Champion Women, a non-profit providing legal advocacy for girls and women in sports. She teaches at Rutgers University inside the Global Sports Business masters program, and focuses on important topics in the industry such as: equal play, traditional Title IX compliance, sexual harassment, abuse and assault, as well as employment, pregnancy and LGBT+ discrimination within sport.
