WSD | When you're close to breaking point and God feels a million miles away

Listen Later

G'day and God bless, friends.

I’m not sure where you’re at on your faith journey right now. You may be a curious agnostic or a staunch atheist. You might believe in something or someone, but you haven’t quite worked out what that something is, or who that someone might be. You might be taking baby steps forward and giant steps back. You may even be someone who has a strong faith, but circumstances have shaken that faith to its core.

I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone and I too have felt variations of all of the above over the journey. While I believe that God is real and I believe that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, I also believe that the wrestle is real; it’s an arm wrestle that at times can be felt in the depths of our soul

I’m in the middle of a season that’s lasted over two years and while I’ve been taking each day as it comes and each new shock to the system as it comes, this past week has really worn me down. I’ve been really, really angry, I’ve felt very little hope and to be quite honest, God’s never felt as far away as He does right now. I’ll tell you a little more about this season and share some resources that I’ll be using to help soften my heart, re-establish my hope and draw me closer to God; and I pray that they might help you too, should you be feeling overwhelmed or angry or wonder where God is in all of this!

Today, as always, we’ll take a look at some of the most recent headlines and reflect on how to pray when you’re angry or distressed. That’s all coming up on today’s Withstand Daily Podcast.
