Thanks to work started by the United States Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of a soldier from South Dakota killed during WWII have been laid to rest at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Blunt, SD. The DPAA says after the war, over 73,500 soldiers were missing. As of Aug. 10, 2024, just over 1600 have been accounted for.
