Xbox Game Pass has undergone a significant transformation as of early 2026, introducing a revamped subscription model with four distinct tiers to provide players with more flexibility and varying levels of access. The service now offers Essential, Premium, PC Game Pass, and Ultimate plans. The entry-level Essential plan is priced at 9.99 dollars per month and includes a curated collection of over 50 games along with online multiplayer and unlimited cloud gaming. The Premium plan costs 14.99 dollars a month, offering a larger library of over 200 titles and access to new Xbox-published games within a year of their release. For the most comprehensive experience, the Ultimate plan is available for 29.99 dollars per month, providing subscribers with over 75 day-one releases annually, access to Ubisoft Plus Classics, and the Fortnite Crew subscription. Desktop players can also opt for the PC Game Pass at 16.49 dollars per month. The library updates for January 2026 feature a strong lineup of major titles and day-one releases. A standout addition is Star Wars Outlaws, arriving on January 13, which is the first-ever open-world game in the franchise. Players take on the role of scoundrel Kay Vess as she navigates the galactic underworld between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Another headlining title is Resident Evil Village, joining the service on January 20. This eighth main entry in the series follows Ethan Winters as he fights for survival in a terrifying European village. The early part of the month sees a wave of releases on January 7, primarily for Premium and Ultimate subscribers. These include Atomfall, a survival-action game set in the British countryside five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster, and Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, an action-roguelike that incorporates dice mechanics into its combat. On the same day, the service adds Rematch, a skill-based 5v5 football game developed by Sloclap, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - Master Crafted Edition, which features graphical and quality-of-life improvements. Other January additions include a remodeled 2D version of the original Final Fantasy on January 8, the twin-stick shooter Brews and Bastards, and the hand-crafted metroidvania MIO: Memories in Orbit, which launches on January 20. Additionally, Nova Roma is scheduled to arrive on January 22.While many new games are arriving, several titles are scheduled to leave the Game Pass library on January 15, 2026. These departing games are Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Neon White, Road 96, The Ascent, and The Grinch: Christmas Adventures. Subscribers who wish to continue playing these titles can use their member discount to save up to 20 percent on a permanent purchase.Looking further into 2026, the service is expected to add a wide range of highly anticipated games. The upcoming roster includes major titles such as Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Gears of War: E-Day, State of Decay 3, and Subnautica 2. The service also highlights recently added high-quality titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which offers a paranoid thriller campaign and fluid multiplayer movement, and Avowed, an RPG set in the Pillars of Eternity universe. The value of the subscription is further supported by an upgraded rewards program, where Ultimate members can earn up to 100 dollars in store credit per year simply by playing games and completing challenges. Cloud gaming has also officially exited its beta phase, offering improved streaming quality up to 1440p for Ultimate subscribers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
