Avery, hired to help launch a new immersive social media platform called Locus, begins to experience headaches after using the system’s VR headset. Following the appearance of objects from Locus in the real world, her Locus avatar begins buying things on its own. When Avery confronts Eternity, the company behind Locus, about the problems, she discovers they have infected her with a new technology that manipulates her perception of reality.
