Michael Hill is the founder of Cumulus Technologies a UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) consulting company, Michael has become one of the top experts in the areas of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and their industrial applications, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and their integration as well as helping develop Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) protocols for our National Airspace (NAS). An FAA Part 107 UAS Pilot accumulating over 2,100+ hours of flight time, within 2,500+ incident-free missions flown as Pilot-in-Command, Michael has earned certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA 30) and has achieved the highest level of UAS safety certifications, Pro Level III, from the Unmanned Safety Institute (USI).
Michael’s experience includes using UAS technology for aerial mapping, telecom inspections, wind turbine inspections, oil & gas inspections, thermal Imaging, critical infrastructure inspections, search and recovery, television work as well as industrial progress videos. Michael holds several board positions with technology, aviation, and UAS organizations and regularly speaks at community and industry events on the advancement of technology in the unmanned aviation industry. Serving as a UAS Consultant to companies on integrating UAV, "Drones" into their respective industries, he has helped develop safety training curriculum for workforce development within several organizations and school districts around the country. Michael has introduced high school students, community members, business leaders, and organizations to the unmanned aviation industry and has trained and mentored many of these individuals to become licensed remote pilots.
His work as Legislative Chairman for the North Central Texas Council of Governments and a committee member of the Texas TDEM UAS Task Force in engaging politicians, government officials, large businesses, and educational institutions in developing their Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) policies and procedures helps change UAS regulations in Texas. Michael is a senior member of the Texas Civil Air Patrol (CAP), and a member of the CAP National UAS Rescue Team supporting FEMA Blue IST and Civil Air Patrol Rescue Missions. He volunteers his drones and his flying abilities to help police, fire depts and emergency management teams for any number of tasks from surveillance, flight training to search, and recovery missions.
