Today, we turn to slang used in casual conversation. 讓我們看看對話中使用的俚語!
The scenes start on page 7, where the line, "we're on a roll" appears. 「We're on a roll. 」，到底什麼意思呢？
Online translation software will tell you that this means, "一路走來", but that's wrong❌!
✅ It actually means, 進展順利, 運勢狀態很好!一路綠燈!連連獲勝!
Also in the dialogue that continues, we see "as soon as I cook up something I'll let you know"
「Cooking up 」不是在煮什麼嗎❌!
✅ To cook up something = to create something, to come up with something
What's cooking? = what's going on? 發生甚麽事了？怎麽回事？
In a later scene, we also see the phrase, so and so is "making the rounds".
「To be making the rounds 」= to be actively socializing with other people at the party = 某某正在積極社交✅ , 不是❌做圈圈 or 繞圈圈!
Lastly, to be quite "taken" with or by someone, what do you think this means?
