「But Joshua said to the people,

　"You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God.

　He is a jealous God;

　He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.」　　 Amen.

　Joshua's final admonition continues. He declares, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”and the people respond, “We too will serve the Lord.” Yet the next book of Judges depicts a people marked by disobedience and unbelief. Just as Peter once boasted only to later betray Jesus in shame, it is not grand words but godly, humble speech and conduct that truly matter for us.

May we walk with the Lord today as well...

『ヨシュアは民に言った。

　「あなたがたは【主】に仕えることはできない。

　主は聖なる神、ねたみの神であり、

　あなたがたの背きや罪を赦さないからである。』

　ヨシュアの遺言的な戒めは続きます。そして、「私と私の家とは主に仕える」と、語って、

民衆も、「私たちも、勿論主に仕えます」と、応えるのですが、次の士師記では、不従順と

不信仰の民の姿が描かれているのです。かつて、ペテロが大言壮語の後に背信の醜態を見せた

ように、私たちも大言壮語ではなく、敬虔、謙遜な言葉や態度が肝要なのです。

　今日も、主と共に歩めますように・・・。　

「"Therefore take careful heed to yourselves,

　that you love the Lord your God.」　　　Amen.

　　The hero Joshua was nearing death, a path all must walk. When Moses named him successor, when he crossed the Jordan, when he brought down the city of Jericho, when he conquered thirty-one kings—these memories must have flashed through his mind like a kaleidoscope. And so he delivered his farewell address. Joshua poured out his entire strength, poured out his heart, and devoted his life completely. Those who sought to enter God's promised land were given a special mission, special gifts, special conviction, and special faith.

　May we entrust everything to the Lord today as well...

『だからあなたがたは自分自身に十分に気をつけて、

　あなたがたの神、【主】を愛しなさい。』

　英雄ヨシュアも誰でもが通る道、死へと近づいていました。モーセから後継者として指名された

時、ヨルダン川を渡る時、エリコの町を陥落させた時、31人の王たちを征服した時、走馬灯のように頭の中を駆け巡ったことでしょう。そして、告別説教を残すのです。ヨシュアは、全力を傾け、

心を砕いて、生涯を捧げ切りました。神の約束の地へ入ろうとする者には、特別の使命があり、特別の賜物があり、特別の信念があり、そして、特別の信仰が与えられていたのです。

　今日も、すべてを主に委ねることができますように・・・。

「And when they came to the region of the Jordan

　which is in the land of Canaan,

　the children of Reuben, the children of Gad,

　and half the tribe of Manasseh built an altar there

　by the Jordan-a great, impressive altar.」　Amen　

　The half-tribes of Manasseh, Gad, and  Reubenon the east bank of the Jordan built a large altar on the west bank to demonstrate that they too were full-fledged members of the people of Israel. This became the issue. They were misunderstood as attempting to build a second altar for themselves, contrary to Moses' law. But they earnestly defended themselves, saying, “The Lord God of gods, the Lord God of gods, He knows,” The misunderstanding was resolved, and they were forgiven. Was it not essential to show a posture of following the Lord, not relying on outward appearances?

　May we also incline our hearts before the Lord today...

『ルベン族、ガド族、マナセの半部族は

　カナンの地のヨルダン川の流域まで来たとき、

　そこ、ヨルダン川のそばに一つの祭壇を築いた。

　それは遠くから見えるほど大きな祭壇であった。』

　ヨルダン東岸のルベン、ガド、マナセの半部族は、自分たちもれっきとしたイスラエルの民

であることをあらわすために、ヨルダン西岸に大きな祭壇を築きました。これが、問題となった

のです。モーセの律法に反して、自分たちの為に第二の祭壇を建てようとしていると誤解された

のです。しかし、「神の神、【主】よ、神の神、【主】はご存じです。」と、懸命に弁明し、誤

解は溶け、許されました。外見に頼ることなく、主に従う姿勢を見せることが肝要だったのでは

ないでしょうか。

　今日も、主の前で心を傾ける事ができますように・・・。

「Not a word failed of any good thing which

　the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel.

　All came to pass.」　　　　Amen

　The twelve tribes were given their territories, and finally, the tribe of Levi, who served in the sanctuary, was allotted forty-eight towns scattered throughout the land and pasturelands, just as Moses had commanded. Thus, the distribution of the territories and towns among all the tribes was complete. And it was concluded with the words, 'Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel.　All came to pass..' May our own lives also be concluded with the words:“Not one thing the Lord promised failed to come to pass.”

　May we continue to trust in the Lord's promises today...

『【主】がイスラエルの家に告げられた良いことは、

　一つもたがわず、すべて実現した。』

　12部族に所有地が与えられ、最後に聖所に奉仕するレビ族にはモーセの命にあった通りに

全国に散在する48の町々と放牧地が割り当てられました。これで、全部族の領土と町の分配

は、終わったのです。そして、『【主】がイスラエルの家に告げられた良いことは、一つもた

がわず、すべて実現した。』という言葉で締めくくったのです。私たちの生涯も、「主が約束

してくださった事は、何ひとつ違わず実現した」という言葉で締めくくりたいものです。

　今日も、主の約束を信じきる事ができますように・・・。

『これらはすべてのイスラエルの子ら、

　および彼らの間に寄留している者のために

　設けられた町である。すべて、誤って人を

　打ち殺してしまった者がそこに逃げ込むためであり、

　会衆の前に立たないうちに、

　血の復讐をする者の手によって

　死ぬことがないようにするためである。』

　のがれの町の設定意義に関しては、「出21:13 ただし、彼に殺意がなく神が御手によって事を起こされた場合、わたしはあなたに、彼が逃れることができる場所を指定する。」と記されています。復讐には復讐、仇討ちに次ぐ仇討ち、それは虚しいだけです。ここで、偉大なのは、ヘブル人だけではなく、異邦人にも規定されていたことです。のがれの町の門戸はすべての人に開かれていたのです。イエス様の福音のように・・・。

　今日も、主の福音を新しい気持ちで聴くことができますように・・・。

『33:29 幸いなイスラエルよ、だれがあなたのような、【主】に救われた民であろうか。主はあなたを助ける盾、あなたの勝利の剣。敵はあなたに屈し、あなたは彼らの背を踏みつける。』

お祈りします。

愛する天のお父様、み名を崇め感謝します。私たちの幸せは、主と共にある時にあります。救われた喜び、主の力が我が力となっている時に幸せを感じるものです。この世にあっては、たくさんの戦いがありますが、主のみ言葉によって、いつも助けられ、励まされ、癒されていますから、感謝します。いつも信仰の創始者であり、完成者なるイエス様から目を離すことなく、いつも祈り続ける事ができますようにお導き願います。今日の礼拝を感謝し、主イエス・キリストのお名前によって、お祈り致します。アーメン。
