Story text

Portuguese sailors first saw Taiwan in the 1500s. They called it "Ilha Formosa". That means "the beautiful island." They were right. Taiwan is a great place to visit and more people are visiting now. It has high mountains and beaches. Taiwanese people are friendly and like to help. There are many night markets with special food. The temples are beautiful. At night, there are fun places like karaoke clubs and bars. Many people say the best time to visit is between October and December or March and May.
