yā dēvī

Listen Later

That dēvī, who is well-established, in all the lōkas (worlds) and in all beings,

for her namah, for her namah, for her namah, namah, namah.

There are many variants of this ślōkam. I have often prescribed this stuti to people who show effects of rāhu’s illusory influence. And they have reported good relief.

This s’lōka is an offering.

namah is variously translated. Two of my favorite translations are na mama (not mine) and manah (using yāskas’s rule of reversal).

So the essence would be, “My manas (mind) is for Her who is in everything.”

Or, ” Not mine, but for Her who is in everything. “
