The mezoued or chakwa is a traditional North African wind instrument generally found in Tunisia, but also present in Algeria and Libya. It is by metonymy, a form of Tunisian popular music. This instrument would have spread from the nomadic camps to the countryside, then to the cities. In the east of Algeria, the instrument is called chakwa.
