Today we discuss the trials and tribulations of three very important African American females. Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, & Mary Jackson are three brilliant and monumental mathematicians that faced adversities while working as "computers" and engineers for NASA (NACA). They overcame racial and gender barriers to advance aerospace exploration into what we know it as today. The US would not have put men on the moon first if it wasn't for women. Let's celebrate them, and recognize how their determination and resilience continue to inspire female STEM professionals today through a powerful reminder that the development and progression of space exploration is a story of untold perseverance, intelligence, and courage.
