What can we learn from history?

What is there in the past that can teach us about today

According to the philosopher George Santayana “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

But Are we repeating the past? Is there an echo of history in what is happening Now?

Today we can not judge how the present plays out, that we leave to future historians to chronicle.

All we can strive for is not to repeat the mistakes of history, rather build on the knowledge that is laid as a foundation in what we call the common era.
