This lesson covers Joshua Chapter 1, which begins the Book of Joshua with three preparatory speeches before Israel crosses the Jordan River into Canaan. God commands Joshua to be strong in both warfare and Torah observance, promising him success and unchallenged leadership. Joshua then asserts his authority by commanding the officers to prepare provisions and by enforcing Moses’s agreement with the two-and-a-half tribes, who pledge their allegiance and military support on the condition that God remains with Joshua as He was with Moses.
