The recent outcome of the European Union’s trade negotiations with the United States regarding tariffs has some merit. It strengthens transatlantic ties, partly due to the EU’s commitment to purchasing hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of US defence equipment and liquefied natural gas (LNG). From a European perspective, the US tariffs may appear unjust.
