Yes, You're That Bad (Total Depravity)

Listen Later

We are back with another episode diving into the question, "What is Reformed Theology?" We know this is a LONG one, but honestly one of the best we ever recorded!

George and Ryan are tasked with discussing the first letter of the acrostic T.U.L.I.P., being "Total Depravity".

Today we will see from the Bible how fallen we really are, what happened, and what we are now able and unable to do because of it.

For a prelude to our next episode, check out this blog post on the "U" of the acrostic - "Unconditional Election" --> https://beaconbiblestudy.org/blog/f/unconditional-election

Below are also the verses we were not able to reference in this episode:

Ecclesiastes 7:20

“Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.”

Galatians 5:17

“For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please."

Titus 1:15-16
“To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Ecclesiastes 8:13

“But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.”

Romans 3:9-18

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave, With their tongues they keep deceiving,” “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”; “Their feet are swift to shed blood, Destruction and misery are in their paths, And the path of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
